Your Acne Consultation

What you can expect at your consultations with us

  • We will examine your skin under the skin scope to determine your skin type, acne type and skin tolerance, this will enable us to see what the naked eye can not see, for a more thorough treatment plan.
  • We will recommend products and treatments required to clear your skin
  • We will discuss aggravating factors that contribute to your acne breakouts.e.g foods, ingredients, medications, cosmetics, stress, hormones, lack of sleep etc.
  • At your consultation we will provide you with an information pack on all the best tips and tricks to help you navigate through the confusion of your acne journey.


When opting into our P.P.S Acne-clearing program you will be instructed on how to use your products especially for the first two weeks of your P.P.S program particularly if you are new to Medik8 products.

Your Acne Consultation and Treatment Options Available

What you can expect in all of your consultation and treatment appointments:

  • We will examine your skin under the skin scope to determine your skin type, acne type and skin tolerance.
  • We will recommend products and treatments required to clear your skin.
  • We will go over aggravating factors that contribute to breakouts. E.g foods, medications, cosmetics, stress, etc.
  • We will provide you with an information pack loaded with tips and tricks and  important notes from your consultation, because we understand it’s a lot to take in at one time.
  • Perform an acne treatment with extractions and LED Red/Blue light therapy.

Your Initial Acne Treatment Plan Schedule

You will require fortnightly/weekly treatments depending on severity of your acne and treatment. It typically takes about 6-months to get you on track for the clear skin you desire. You should notice improved results in the symptoms of acne rather quickly although sometimes it may get worse before it gets better. Remember holistically acne takes time to treat to achieve the lasting clear skin results you desire.

Your Acne Specialist will:

  • At your appointment we will assess what type of treatment your skin requires.
  • We will also assess and discuss how your home care regimen will be adjusted so that your skin does not over-adapt and stop responding.
  • We will perform an acne treatment with extractions.

As your skin gets clearer your treatments will become shorter there won’t be as many extractions to do.

Once your acne is under control after undergoing one of our treatment plans, you will simply need to maintain your home care products to retain clear skin. A monthly/quarterly check-up will then be advised depending on how you feel your skin is and for your own piece of mind.

Acne Treatment Plan Schedule of Fees

$85 per Treatment – 45 minutes

$125 per Treatment – 90 minutes

Unfortunately we do not offer treatments or extractions to clients that do not use our home care products due to the importance these products have in the reduction of acne.

Treatment for Advanced Acne

You will require fortnightly/weekly treatments depending on your acne type for treatment. It typically takes about 4 to 6-months to get you on track for the clear skin you desire.

What to expect at your acne treatment appointments:

  • We will assess what treatment requirements your skin needs.
  • We will also assess how your home care regimen will be personalised so that your skin does not over-adapt and stop responding.
  • We will perform an acne treatment including extractions and 20 minutes of LED light therapy that will include blue light and red light
  • OR It could be a whole 20 minutes of red depending on your skin requirements.

LED blue light therapy helps to kill the acne causing bacteria (Propionibacterium), reduce inflammation and provide a general rejuvenation effect on the skin.

Usually, in the case of inflamed acne, topical products will bring down inflammation rather quickly. However, there are times when the skin needs a little more help in bringing down inflammation. This is where LED can help or we may even use the SRS therapy to calm and add extra moisture.

The combination of blue, red and infrared lights get down to the core of the acne. The red lights helps to reduce inflammation and aid healing while the blue light helps to kill the acne causing bacteria ( Propionibacterium.)

This phenomenal add-on will enhance your current acne treatment, and help to calm and aid healing after receiving extractions.

Once your acne is under control, you will simply need to maintain your home care products to retain clear skin.

Body Acne Treatments

Acne on the body is assessed exactly the same way as on the face.  Often, back acne needs stronger products as the skin is thicker and less sensitive than skin on the face.

Acne Rosacea Treatments

Acne Rosacea is not acne, however it will still respond to an anti-bacterial regimen similarly to acne. It usually clears up much more quickly than acne and will stay clear as long as product use is maintained. We educate you on food and environmental triggers that can make acne rosacea worse. SRS therapy and Led therapy are helpful treatments.

Acne Scarring Treatment

We can help you with dark spots, indented, pitted scarring. Pitted scarring takes a more aggressive approach, but your skin treatment area will be numbed, and this process will take about 40 minutes prior to treating scarred skin.

An electronic Pen machine with multiple fine needles will vibrate gently confusing the brain and effectively reducing the pain. The needles penetrate the skin at a pre-determined depth for effective treatment. We also have a Plasma Pen that has delivered amazing results in relation to acne scarring. Medik8 Chemical Peels are also very effective.
